SIPOC Diagram

How to Use This SIPOC Diagram Generator

Start by naming the process and defining its boundary. The best SIPOC diagrams are built at a high level before the team gets pulled into detailed process mapping. Use one row for each major supplier-input-process-output-customer relationship, then refine the wording until the team agrees on the scope.

SIPOC Column Guide

Column Meaning Good Entry Example
Suppliers Who provides the input? Approved component supplier, scheduler, customer service
Inputs What does the process need to start? Released work order, drawing revision, material lot, inspection plan
Process What high-level activity transforms the input? Receive order, kit material, assemble, inspect, ship
Outputs What does the process produce? Accepted assembly, shipping record, inspection result, invoice
Customers Who receives or uses the output? Final test, warehouse, external customer, finance

Export and Print Options

Use Print / Save PDF to open the browser print dialog and save the finished diagram as a PDF. Use the Word and Excel buttons when you need an editable file for Microsoft Office. Use the Google Doc and Google Sheet buttons when you need a file that can be uploaded or imported into Google Drive.

FAQ

How many process steps should a SIPOC include?

Keep the process column high level. Five to seven major steps is usually enough for scoping before a detailed map is built.

Is SIPOC the same as process mapping?

No. SIPOC defines scope and relationships. A detailed process map, swimlane map, or value stream map comes after the team agrees on the SIPOC boundary.

Can this tool create a PDF directly?

The tool uses the browser print workflow so the user can print or save the finished diagram as a PDF using the system print dialog.

Can the Google exports create files directly in my Google Drive?

No. This static browser tool downloads Google Docs-compatible HTML and Google Sheets-compatible CSV files. Upload or import those files into Google Drive when you need native Google files.
