How to Use This RACI Matrix Builder

List every task or decision down the left column, then name the roles or people involved as column headers. For each cell, choose whether that role is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, or Informed. Aim for exactly one Accountable owner per row; the preview flags rows with zero or more than one Accountable assignment so the team can resolve the gap before the project starts.

FAQ

What does RACI stand for?

RACI stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. It clarifies who does the work, who owns the outcome, who must be consulted before a decision, and who only needs to be kept informed.

Can a task have more than one Accountable person?

No. Each task should have exactly one Accountable (A) owner. This tool flags rows with zero or more than one Accountable assignment so the team can resolve the conflict.

When should a RACI matrix be built?

Build a RACI matrix during project charter, DMAIC planning, kaizen event scoping, or any time a cross-functional process has unclear ownership or handoffs.

Can I export the RACI matrix?

Yes. This tool supports print or save-as-PDF, Word-compatible HTML, Excel-compatible spreadsheet output, Google Docs-compatible HTML, and Google Sheets-compatible CSV.
